Licence

A Cerberon licence is a key (CRB-…) that you activate on one machine. Activation ties the licence to that machine's ID, and the licence decides which scan types you can run, how many people can use Cerberon, until when it is valid, and until when you receive updates.

See your licence

Settings → Licence and updates shows the licence's status, what it covers, when it ends, and this machine's ID (with a copy button). Quote the machine ID when you contact Cerberon about your licence.

Activate or renew

When a licence ends

  1. On the end date, Cerberon keeps working fully for 7 more days, and says so.
  2. After that it becomes read-only: you can still sign in, view and export everything, but you cannot start scans or change data until a new licence is installed.
  3. Nothing is deleted. Installing a renewal restores everything at once.

A licence also has an updates until date. Releases published after it are shown but not offered for installation; the version you run keeps working.

Move to another machine

A licence is active on one machine at a time. To move it (a replacement server, or a rebuilt one), contact Cerberon with the old and new machine IDs; we release the old machine and you activate the new one with the same key.

Reinstalling on the same machine needs nothing: uninstall keeps the machine's identity and licence in ~/.cerberon/instance, and a reinstall reuses them. If that folder is deleted, the machine gets a new ID and counts as a new machine.
